Before MFC 3.1, subtitles had a thick outline which prevented the text color to merge with the colors on the scene. 
Now there is no outline. and the only option to prevent that issue is to use those horrible subtitles with black bars.

please fix that. add the option of outlined subtitles. Its a simple request.
